Early Years Practitioner

Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: From £12.21 p/h
Annual leave: 28 days (pro rata) plus Christmas shut-down
Wee Mack’s Nursery are seeking qualified Early Years Practitioners to join our team. We provide care for babies and children aged 6 months to 5 years in our spacious nursery.
As we continue to grow, we are looking to recruit qualified full and part time staff to further complement our team.
You must be passionate and enthusiastic about delivering a high standard of care to all users, and to help the centre in maintaining its aims and objectives.
Your duties as Early Years Practitioner will include:
• maintaining a safe, caring and stimulating environment that promotes learning through play and delivering a curriculum that includes outdoor play and forest school
• running activities and working with colleagues and other professionals to make sure that the children’s needs are met
• working closely with parents and/or carers, giving them a high standard of service, including regular progress reports
• making sure that equipment, such as furniture and toys, is in good condition
• knowledge and application of appropriate nursery policies
• any other duty deemed reasonable by Management
You will need to have the following qualifications, training and experience:
• SVQ Level 3/HNC CYP (or relevant experience / willingness to work towards a suitable qualification
• SSSC Registration / Eligibility
• Current PFA Certificate and interest in / experience of delivering forest school programmes (desirable)
• Positive attitude, caring nature and ability to connect with babies and children
• Must be a good team player and committed to positive outcomes for our children and the nursery as a whole
• Must have / be willing to obtain PVG membership with Disclosure Scotland
• Strong knowledge of current best practice frameworks including The National Stanard, Quality Improvement framework for Early Years, CfE, RTA, GIRFEC and a robust understanding of child protection procedures.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
This post is regulated work with children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.
