Deputy Manager & Quality Lead

Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: £29000 – £35000
(dependant on qualification level)
Annual leave: 28 days
(pro rata) plus Christmas shut-down

Wee Mack’s is looking for a motivated Deputy Manager & Quality Lead to inspire our team and support the Nursery Manager in delivering a high-quality, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children.

What you’ll do:

• Lead and coach staff, supporting professional development and CPD.

• Be a role model on the floor, promoting best practice and quality care.

• Ensure a safe, caring, and engaging environment that encourages learning through play and forest/outdoor experiences.

• Work closely with parents and carers, providing updates on children’s progress.

• Oversee resources, equipment, and health & safety, including risk assessments.

• Support recruitment, training, and quality assurance processes.

• Step in to lead the nursery in the Manager’s absence.

What we’re looking for:

• Must hold a SSSC registrable qualification at practitioner level (SCQF 7) as a minimum and be willing to work towards SCQF 9 if required. 

• Experience in a senior practitioner or deputy role, and some experience of Forest Learning in practice 

• Must have / be willing to obtain PVG membership with Disclosure Scotland 

• Strong knowledge of current best practice frameworks including The National Stanard, Quality Improvement framework for Early Years, CfE, RTA, GIRFEC and a robust understanding of child protection procedures.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

This post is regulated work with children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.
